participation in the global ministries of the church.
We seek to:
The organization of United Methodist Women seeks to know God and to make life better for women,
children, youth and marginalized neighbors in the ever-expanding global village of today's world.

The South Vernon United Methodist Women serve:
 God
 each other
our church
our community

We participate in the programs and studies of United Methodist Women,
including social issues and Bible studies.

We include self-help program studies to improve many areas of our life, such as:
Health and wellness
Financial and God’s lessons on money and resources
Spiritual Growth

We support these area ministries:
Interchurch of Knox County
New Directions
CareNet Pregnancy Center

The unit of United Methodist Women at South Vernon Church, consisting of 12 members,
remains very active within our group, our church, our community and serving God.
We observe annual UMW studies – the Call to Prayer and Self Denial in the spring and the Thank Offering in the fall.
We annually make Easter egg candy near Easter and deliver cheer plates of fruit and candy to shut-ins for Thanksgiving.
We participate each Christmas in the Tree of Sharing for the needy, through Interchurch of Knox County.
We are a serving group for others, and a supportive group for each other.
Our theme and focus for 2010 is “being UMW green” – green stewards of God’s earth through recycling, etc and
Green stewards of our money for missions.
